Blue Springs

Hi!

There are just some things in life that we continually take for granted.  Actually, there are many
but I'm not getting philosophical here so relax.  The one I'm talking about today is the wonderful State Park system we have in Florida.  My gosh, there are so many wonderful parks that they are too numerous to mention, (see http://www.floridastateparks.org, if you are interested).  The neat thing about them is that no matter which one you choose, there is something for everyone; scenics, birds, mammals, fish, etc...  We all need to be mindful of them and donate to them so that we never lose them.  That would be awful!

This rant was brought about because my wonderful wife and I decided to visit Blue Springs State Park on Sunday.  The weather was glorious, (55 and sunny) and the manatees were there in full force (167 by their count - though we only counted about 60 plus).  Birds flittered through the trees and even came when I 'pished' to them (yes it's an actual verb, so stop snickering).  Woodpeckers and numerous warblers were all around, as were cardinals, catbirds and an occasional duck or two.  Great Crested Cormorants dotted the trees and were busy the whole day sunning and fishing.

The manatees were, as I said, plentiful.  The moms, dads and babies were all there.  One mother seemed to have twins and an older, assumed adopted baby was with her also (see picture).  I imagine that they are wonderful parents.  They sure seem to be.  Another mother with twins (which is somewhat rare among manatees), came over to one of the docks and thrilled the tourists who wanted close-up pictures.  That was until one of the tourist kids decided that it would be fun to yell and scream and rollerskate with his sneaker-skates on the aluminum deck. The manatees decided that it was too loud and ambled off to the other side of the river.  You can almost see in his/her eye a look that says, "Do you realize just how loud and rude you are?"
Some people just don't get it and probably never will.

Byeeeee

Are you just showing off now? My manatee pictures look like gray shadow blobs, and yours look like real animals. Whatever. I can make enchiladas. SO THERE!

Speaking of enchiladas, WHERE ARE MINE? I mean, I'm nice to you most of the time and I don't cause you any problems, (except for the almost raccoon attack on 2.0), which you wouldn't have known about if I wasn't so darned honest. Therefore, I need enchiladas. I need them bad. Did I mention it's cold out and I need more food when it's cold. As far as I've ever heard, (and I'm old and have read A LOT of newspapers), no Mexican has ever frozen to death. That's my justification.

Food. I need food.
