This will be a fun, albeit boring, post. Why you ask? Well, there will be pictures and endless drivel about a place we found to visit, (or perhaps someday live), and it's pretty close to where we are now. Thanks for asking. I will now continue...
Yesterday, my wonderful, charming and otherwise great wife found a new place for
us to go to, where she can be in her element, (beaches, wind, water, small town), and also where I can be in mine, (taking pictures, fishing and watching her smile); Cedar Key.
No people, it is not located in the Florida Keys. You would think that, but you'd be wrong. It's located about 1
75 miles north of Tampa on the west coast of Florida. The drive there is long and winding, through small towns, swamps and even a big city or two, but when you get there it's like a land time forgot. The city is quaint, (yes, I used the word quaint correctly in a sentence), with many small antique and knick-knack shops, some bait stores, (I did mention fishing) and a few restaurants sprinkled in for good measure.
This picture is the place we will be staying next weekend for our anniversary. There is a restaurant with an outside patio for bay front dining, (which is really making it sound very ritzy when it is in-fact a Key West'ish sorta place with a Jimmy Buffett type of atmosphere.
There are lots of picture taking opportunities, of which I will
partake next weekend. There's a nature trail in a park nearby. There are fishing piers and
beaches and small towns (which I already mentioned). One of the picture taking opportunites are birds. My favorite subjects. There are ducks and egrets and purple martins and pelicans, (see picture below). They are not afraid and will come right up to you. This makes picture taking that much more easier, (I have a Florida education). I think it will be a fun time had by all!
The scenery is awesome too! It's sort of a land time forgot, in some places, reminding me of what I think of when I think of Florida a long, long time ago, (no not in my lifetime, though that is a long, long time ago). But rather 150 or 200 years ago. The water, the sloughs, the bay and surrounding Everglade-ly look (is that a word??). I can't wait!!!
There's something about a road trip that's just fun. Coming home is fun too, don't get me wrong. But the adventure of being someplace and trying to capture it in
pictures is cool to me. My wife on the otherhand finds great pleasure by reading a book on the patio, on the bay, watching the world slowly go by. I guess that's why we're a good couple.
Well, that and millions of other reasons.
Bye peeps!!

I would runaway to live there in five minutes but I didn't see ONE SINGLE beauty shop (to get my natural red hair slightly refreshened) anywhere around nor did there appear to be a Publix within fifty miles. Wasn't the nearest in Ocala? And while I am a southern gal, I don't think I can shop at the Jitney Jungle, anymore. Too bad. But it is heavenly over there, isn't it? Find a beauty shop and I'll adapt to the Jitney Jungle.
Whoops! Apparently, Capt Underpants, you were still logged on and I didn't notice that, whilst posting my Jitney Jungle comments. I'll try, again.
Wow...doesn't that make me sound, "special"!?!?
heehee
Hope you enjoy your anniversary!!! Congrats!
