Another Chapter. Another Page.

Hi!!

Well isn't this a glorious day!!! Why so happy you ask? Well, let me just tell you! I have a new job!!!

Anyone that knows me relatively well, (no pun intended, though most of the people that read this are related to me), that I have been looking for a new job for a while now. The definition of "a while now" is since I got the job!

Now, to be fair, the job initially didn't start out bad. I enjoyed it. It was a sales job dealing with the public and the sales manager was a 'friend', (or so I thought). Since customer service is what I've done for over thirty years, it seemed only right that I continue. I had no training other than, "There's the store, go sell something". That's what I did. Many weeks I was the #1 salesman and the customers would come back quite often and request me. I would have thought that that is the definition of customer service. Come to find out, there are numerous definitions of customer service.

In the year I worked for this company I was almost always in the top five salesman in at least one or more of the top sales catagories, (gross sales, warranties, antivirus sales). I would have thought that this is what they wanted. I was wrong. Very wrong! It seems that each of the three sales managers and three general managers all wanted something different and continually changed their minds regarding the 'daily grind'. They couldn't ever quite figure out just what they wanted the salesmen to do. If you sold alot of merchandise, then they'd complain about how many warranties you sold. If you sold waranties, then your antivirus sales weren't enough. The pressure continued to grow and the stress did too.

So, without going into boring details, it's over! No more selling for me! I now have an Assistant Manager position with a very reputable company and though there are minimum sales opportunities, there is nothing that compares to what I endured for the past year. What a wonderful feeling it is to be free of the burden of sales numbers. Freedom is a wonderful thing! I'm excited and we'll see if this pans out to be something I love. I start in a week. I'm done. I wanted to broach another subject, but frankly I'm going to go and watch a movie instead. I'll write when I get work. heehee I always wanted to say that!!!
